Hi from the Napa Valley - I am very excited to be releasing my new vintage of PALAZZO 2009 'Right Bank' Proprietary Red Wine ! For those of you who don’t know, it all started with this wine. Before there was a PALAZZO Cabernet Franc made for the French Laundry, or a PALAZZO Cuvee Blanc / White Wine made from crazy “55 year old” Semillon vines … there was the first vintage of my PALAZZO 2003 ‘Right Bank’ Proprietary Red Wine! And it was this wine that caught the attention of the Top Sommeliers & Chefs across the country!

The PALAZZO 2009 'Right Bank' Proprietary Red Wine was the wine I first wanted to make. A wine with exceptional character & beauty - Floral and intriguing on the nose … complex and rich with delicious layers of fruit on the palate … and balanced throughout with good acid, minerality and structure. In essence … A Great Food Wine!

And it is with immense pride & excitement that I release this new vintage of my PALAZZO 2009 ‘Right Bank’ Proprietary Red Wine! 

As always, Merlot makes up the lion’s share of the PALAZZO 2009 ‘Right Bank’ Blend … giving the wine its sheer power & strength, silky texture, and beautiful layers of rich cherry & blackberry fruit.  The Cabernet Franc adds brightness, acidity and ‘floral notes’ to the wine … with the Cabernet Sauvignon adding structure and character … with hints of smoke, earth, and cocoa / espresso bean to the finish.

As most of you know, my love affair with the wines produced from the Bordeaux region of France began over 30 years ago.  Particularly, wines from the small, family owned Chateau’s that dot the rolling hillsides of the beautiful  ‘Right Bank’ countryside of St. Emilion & Pomerol.  It is from there that my inspiration and passion for producing PALAZZO WINE continues to come.

Our goal at PALAZZO WINE is, and always will be, to produce beautiful wines of outstanding quality, with distinction and class!  Wines that are both ‘powerful and elegant’ …  and pair well with a broad range of foods … Reminiscent of the style and quality of wines that come from the wonderful ‘Right Bank’ region of Bordeaux, Franc!

Tasting Notes –

Nose: Red cherry, plum & blackberry fruit. Notes of vanilla and forest floor, with floral tones and hints of cocoa, spice and wet earth after a rainstorm!

Palate: Crushed red cherries, with plum & pomegranate overtones. Very focused with excellent structure & acidity. Good grip & weight with soft, but present tannins. Complex with layers of rich fruit and hints of earth & minerality laced throughout.

Finish: Elegant with great acid and soft, dusty tannins. Hints of cocoa power & dark chocolate. Complex, yet supple mouth-feel, medium to long finish. A Great Food Wine!

Pairing: Roast Pork & Grilled Veal Chops … to a delicious Gourmet Wagyu Burger or Grilled New York Strip!
